David is Founder of The Crow Flies. With over 25 years of client & agency experience across strategy, brand management, research, innovation and commercial roles, operating at Board / Director level for the last 15 of those, David will bring depth of experience, breadth of knowledge, gravitas and technical expertise to your opportunity as well as strong commercial appreciation of your challenges. David’s brand building specialisms lie where disciplines overlap: finding creatively springy insights for innovation; defining a brand strategy that can be turned into an impactful brand plan and always bringing the recommendations back to commercially impactful plans – all while building strong stakeholder alignment. David has been responsible for transformational and award-winning brand strategies, communication campaigns and also a brand launch described by Marketing Magazine as “the best since sliced bread“. Outside Crow, he is a writer, penning thoughts on topics as wide ranging as branding (Crow blogs appear on this website), poetry and beer. He is a member of The British Guild of Beer Writers and a judge for the Beer and Cider Marketing Awards and the BOOM Awards (Best Of Organic Market). Despite nearly 15 years marketing experience working in brand, innovation, insight, communications and customer marketing in both client-side and FMCG environments, Rob still claims to be deciding what he wants to do when he grows up. An entrepreneurial marketeer, Rob specialises in the development of brand positioning and strategies which have proven to cut through with consumers and deliver commercially – a pre-requisite for Crow’s direct approach. With award-winning innovation, TV and outdoor campaigns under his belt, Rob has a wealth of client experience and natural creativity which he combines with an intuitive feel for impactful strategy. Helpfully, he also loves branding, being curious and passionate about unlocking opportunities for the brands he works on. Steve Mitchell is a trained artist with over 20 years experience of FMCG and bringing brands to life. A strong lateral thinker, making for a uniquely creative and refreshing visual take on brand, innovation and marketing challenges. Separately he is founder of Picture Window, where branding and marketing design comes with a Fine Art outlook – a framing of what’s naturally and powerfully at the centre of your world.
Dan has over a decade’s experience within field management, much of it with his own company, Mojo Fieldwork. He’s worked on almost every project imaginable along with some that you’d never even thing possible (..or plausible!). With experience across a wide range of industry sectors Dan brings a level of recruitment knowledge that is invaluable to even the most challenging projects.
Chris has over 30 years’ experience in the areas of analysis, planning and insight and a real skill building hypotheses and getting businesses to challenge themselves. Having held a number of senior management positions, Chris is experienced at operating across all levels of organisations with the presence and credibility to deliver results across a range of business activities. As well as being a member of the Flock, Chris owns and runs his own business, Ashdale Business Consulting, offering informed independent intelligence to both B2B and B2C businesses.
Pete describes himself as a ’21st Century creative all-rounder’. It’s true enough, with a nest full of experience in brand ID, digital, wordpress, infographics, data visualisation and Prezi presentation design he understands how visualisation needs to work in the world today – and how beauty and creative impact act as critical recall mechanisms for the category or brand you create. Pete has his own Birmingham based design business as well as acting as creative consultant for the flock. He’s also an active proponent of great food and in particular regional ‘proper food’, about which he writes.
Mark has 30 years market research & consumer insight experience with much of this at Director level in client businesses (GSK, Mars, Bass) and in consultancy / agency. Strongly analytical, Mark brings excellent strategic thinking skills and an ability to tell a story from copious data to deriving key trends, implications and recommendations.
